Beck-Fields is a duo consisting of classically trained composer, Jeremy D. Beck [Boston Conservatory] (guitar, piano and voice) and William Fields (electronics). They call Wilmington DE home, and have been performing together since 2012.
For their second release of 2015 on NOREMIXES, Beck-Fields continue their signature live to tape / improvisational recording style. All four pieces that make up the ‘Hone’ EP were recorded the evening of July 29th 2015 in a single session.
Their project is always presented direct to tape with no overdubs; which makes the complexity of the production and structure of the performances even more impressive. What differentiates Hone from it’s predecessor, Sophia, is a lyrical theme and a real sense of immediacy with their presentation. Beats and strong melodic content push songs like ‘Sun Under Sea’ and ‘Dream Another Way’ into almost pop sensibilities. In opener ‘Hone’, Beck sings “On the dive, She, Owes, Her lover, One day, She opens, All too soon, (To) the crick, (So) soon, She's new, (In) the fire, She walks, On the fire, Holding, Her son, All of her days, (all of her burns), For a million miles, a million turns…”. Welcome to the work of Beck-Fields.
